The Role

We’re looking for an exceptional technology leader - title open (Director, VP, or CTO level depending on experience) - to help shape and scale the next generation of Zapp’s technology organization.

You’ll be part of Zapp’s Senior Leadership Team, partner closely with the Founder and Product leadership to define our technical vision, architecture, and long-term strategy. This is a rare opportunity to influence both the technology and the trajectory of a brand that’s building a category-defining experience.

You’ll lead across multiple product domains - from consumer experiences to operational systems - with a mandate to make Zapp’s technology more intelligent, scalable, and future-proof every day.

What You'll Do

• Set the Technical Vision: Evaluate and evolve our technology stack, defining a roadmap that aligns technical ambition with product and business goals.
• Be AI-First: Embed AI and automation across every layer of the business - from personalization and merchandising to forecasting, decision-making, and logistics - making Zapp more predictive, adaptive, and human-centered.
• Architect the Platform: Design systems for extensibility, enabling new products, business models, and partnerships to be built quickly and elegantly on top of our core platform.
• Bridge Product and Engineering: Partner closely with product, operations, and commercial teams to translate business priorities into impactful technical strategies.
• Collaborate Closely with Data Science: Partner with our data science and analytics teams to build an intelligent, data-driven foundation for decision-making, personalization, and predictive operations across the business.
• Scale the Organization: Build and empower high-performing teams with world-class standards, clear principles, and a culture of ownership, curiosity, and craftsmanship.
• Foster Engineering Excellence: Drive simplicity, performance, and quality - encouraging elegant solutions and continuous improvement across all systems.
• Build for Global Scale: Architect systems designed for reliability and observability across markets and time zones, ensuring flawless customer experience at scale.
• Develop Talent and Culture: Lead with humility and ambition - mentoring managers and engineers to do their life’s best work while preserving Zapp’s culture of trust, speed, and excellence.
• Stay Ahead of What’s Next: Continuously explore emerging technologies and paradigms - from AI agents to edge computing - identifying where innovation can meaningfully enhance customer experience or operational efficiency.

What We're Looking For

• 10+ years of software engineering experience, including leadership of multi-disciplinary teams and managers.
• Proven track record of defining and executing technology strategy across multiple domains.
• Understanding and curiosity with regards to how to leverage AI, data, and automation to transform both customer experience and business operations.
• Strong product sensibility and ability to partner effectively with commercial and design stakeholders.
• Experience scaling complex systems with attention to detail, quality, resilience, and maintainability.
• Thrive in a fast-moving, founder-led environment that values ownership, creativity, and decisive execution.
• Exceptional communicator who can simplify complex technical ideas, inspire alignment, and influence at every level.
