Overview

The Finance Manager will be highly skilled and detail-oriented and will help to oversee our financial operations, ensuring accurate reporting, robust financial control, and providing ad hoc analysis to support strategic decision-making. Reporting directly to the Director, Strategic Finance & Financial Control, this individual will lead day-to-day operations of the Finance team and directly manage the Accounts Payable function. This is an essential role within the business, offering an exciting opportunity to contribute to the company’s financial success and long-term strategy.

Key Responsibilities

• Hands-on leadership of the team in the preparation of the monthly management accounts, ensuring accurate and timely reporting of performance.

• Monthly variance analysis to fully understand and explain month on month performance, and performance against forecasts.

• Managing any overseas entities and the consolidation process, producing the monthly consolidated financial statements that are used for investor reporting.

• Providing financial analysis to support business decisions, cost-saving initiatives, and profitability improvement.

• Leading the team through statutory processes including the annual audit, and ensuring the timely completion of tax filings and VAT returns.

• Implementing and monitoring financial policies, procedures, and internal controls to safeguard company assets.

• Managing and mentoring the finance team, fostering a culture of continuous improvement and professional development.

• Supporting strategic planning and business growth initiatives, offering financial insights and risk assessments.

• Overseeing systems and process improvements to enhance financial efficiency and accuracy.

Key Skills 

• Qualified accountant (ACA, ACCA, CIMA or equivalent) with minimum 3 years post-qualification experience

• Strong technical knowledge of UK GAAP, IFRS, and working knowledge of tax regulations.

• Experience in a similar role, ideally within retail, e-commerce or tech industries (start-up/scale-up experience highly advantageous)

• Proven ability to lead and improve complex, data-led processes

• Excellent analytical skills with a strategic mindset

• Strong communication skills, with the ability to present financial information to non-financial stakeholders

• Proficient in financial systems (Xero experience is beneficial)

• High level of accuracy, integrity, and attention to detail

• Ability to work under pressure and meet strict deadlines
